The Circular Economy Safari

See peer-to-peer Bitcoin in the real world

The Bitcoin Babies Experience is a hands-on, walking safari through the active circular Bitcoin economy of Kimbo, Ruiru. We start our journey at Bitglam Fashions and head directly to the Miale Medical Centre — one of our earliest merchants and Kenya's longest Bitcoin-accepting medical clinic, where we'll share the origin story of our program.

As we walk the trail, you'll explore the heart of Kimbo's commerce — visiting active Bitcoin-accepting shops including Wakari Grocery, Gmax Supermarket, Friendly Pharmacy, Marvelous Butchery, Waruchu Poshomillers, Levina Groceries, and finishing back at Eve's shop. At several stops, local merchants present their businesses, show how they use Blink wallets, and invite you to transact in sats.

You'll also meet the mothers in our program who receive weekly $5 stipends in sats, see our new Online Village app, and learn about our merchant discount campaigns. Come meet the team, the mothers, and the merchants building the future of money from the ground up.

  • Guided "Circular Economy Safari" walking tour of active Bitcoin merchants
  • Meet and interact with the local mothers and business owners
  • Photo opportunities with our custom-made photo frames
  • Leave your mark on the Wall of Fame at Gmax Supermarket
  • Interactive demo of our new Online Village app
  • Shop exclusive, scarce Bitcoin Babies merchandise (shirts, books, cups)
  • Complimentary bottled water and a special gift from the team

Our Home Base

Kimbo: Where the movement started

While Bitcoin Babies has expanded internationally to Burundi and Pakistan, Kimbo, Ruiru remains our cradle and home base. This is where we launched our very first cohort three years ago.

Our ecosystem relies on a powerful synergy: without the weekly educational program and stipends for mothers, local merchants wouldn't have customers paying in Bitcoin. And without merchants willing to accept sats, the mothers couldn't spend their funds locally. This closed-loop network is what makes Kimbo's economy so resilient. Look out for our orange "Satoshi" Tuk-Tuk and roadside welcome signs as you arrive!
