The Bitcoin Nairobi Fun Run takes place through Ngong Road Forest Sanctuary — one of Nairobi's most scenic protected green spaces. Three distances are available so every participant can run their own race:

5K Fun Run — the perfect entry point. Open to walkers, first-timers, and anyone who wants to experience the forest at their own pace.
10K Challenge — a step up for regular runners looking to push a little harder through the trails.
21K Half Marathon — for the serious runners who want to cover real ground through one of Africa's most beautiful urban forests.

This is not just a race. It's a chance to breathe fresh air, move your body, and connect with a community of builders from across East Africa — three days before the main conference begins. You do not need to know anything about Bitcoin. Just bring your energy and good shoes.

The venue

A forest that's been waiting for this moment

Ngong Road Forest Sanctuary spans 1,224 hectares of protected indigenous forest — one of the last natural forests inside a capital city in Africa. It has been a conservation area since the 1800s, and over the last six to seven years it has been rehabilitated into a fully fenced, family-friendly sanctuary open to all. Comparable to Karura Forest and the Arboretum, it is one of the safest places in Nairobi to come and run.

The forest is home to over 110 bird species — including African Crowned Eagles, Narina Trogons, African Harrier Hawks, and owls — as well as Sykes' monkeys, leopards, bushbucks, bush pigs, porcupines, and bush babies. Running here, you are moving through a living ecosystem. The forest filters water, sequesters carbon, and regulates Nairobi's local climate. Every runner who shows up is also making a statement about conservation.
